Himalayan Motorbike Trip
When it comes to adventure sports there is no place like the Himalayas. Mountains, glaciers, valleys, and lakes it has it all. Just like the other adventure sports like mountaineering, trekking, skiing mountain biking or motorbike safari another adventurous way to explore the lofty Himalayas. Mountain biking is a very high endurance activity. It requires a lot of stamina both mentally and physically. The best time to go for a motorbike safari is around May to September in the Trans Himalayan region and in the other region you can go during the month of April to June. It is a very interesting way to know the unknown parts of Himalayas. Mostly Himalayan ranges are famous for trekking and mountaineering but mountain biking makes this mountain range different from the others. If you wish to discover the unknown places of the Himalayas alone than this is just the right option for you.

Day 1 : ARRIVE DELHI
Met at airport and transferred to hotel.
Day 2 : DELHI
Sightseeing tour in an air-con bus to visit the sights in one of India's biggest cities. Delhi is the capital of India and a mixture of Hindu, Muslim and British architecture. The city consists of two parts - Old Delhi which was the capital of Muslim India, between the 12th and 19th centuries and New Delhi, the imperial city created by the British. After the tour, collect the motor bikes and have a practice.
Day 3 : DELHI - CHANDIGARH (250 km)
Ride through the "Plains of India" on a 4 lane highway (nice easy introduction to riding in India!) Chandigarh is the capital of the Punjab, and purposely built in the 1950's by the French architect, Le Corbusier. Afternoon sightseeing tour.
Day 5 : CHANDIGARH - SIMLA (130 km)
Leave the "Plains of India" and begin the ascent into the Himalayas. SIMLA - ( Alt. 2130m/6990ft ) This hill station, was the "Summer Capital" of India during the British rule of India. It sprawls along a crescent shaped ridge, with many houses clinging to the slopes. Along the ridge runs the Mall, which is lined with stately English homes, theatres, shops and fine buildings, such as the Viceroy Lodge and Gordon castle.
Day 6 : SIMLA
Sightseeing tour to see the sights of this beautiful place.
Day 7 : SIMLA - BILASPUR (140 km)
A great days ride through the Himalayas to Bilaspur. BILASPUR is a picturesque town overlooking a beautiful lake, with boating and swimming. Sightseeing tour and lake boat ride in the afternoon.
Day 8 : BILASPUR - KULU (140 km)
Ride the winding road following the Beas River and enter the Kulu Valley. KULU - ( Alt. 1200m/3940ft ) This town stands at the beginning of the beautiful Kulu valley, which is the gateway to Ladakh and Leh high up on the Tibetan plateau. This valley was isolated for centuries, until a road was built. Its people are a colourful mixture of Nepalese, Tibetan and Indians.
Day 9 : KULU - MANALI (50 km)
Ride through the beautiful Kulu Valley to Manali. MANALI - ( Alt. 1400m/4600ft ) The last town before the road winds its way up to the Tibetan plateau. A beautiful and vibrant town with spectacular scenery, temples and a wide variety of people.
Day 10 : MANALI ( Rohtang Pass 100 km )
A great days ride up to the Rohtang Pass ( Alt. 4000m/13000ft ) which is the entrance to the Ladakh region and also where nomadic Yak herders are still seen.
Day 11 : MANALI - REWALSAR (170 km)
Another great days ride to Rewalsar. REWALSAR - Small town with a beautiful lake surrounded by Buddhist and Hindu temples.
Day 12 : REWALSAR - DHARAMSALA (110 km)
Continue riding through the mountains. DHARAMSALA - ( Alt. 1500m/4950ft ) Home of the exiled Dalai Lama and many other Tibetans forced to flee from the Chinese. Tibetan monastries, schools, libraries, shops, restaurants, cultural centres and refugee camps, makes this area a mini Tibet. Magnificent views of the Himalayas one way and the plains of India the other.
Day 13 : DHARAMSALA
Sightseeing tour to visit the Tibetan Monasteries.
Day 14 : DHARAMSALA - CHANDIGARH (260 km)
Ride down through the mountains and back onto the "Plains of India".
Day 15 : CHANDIGARH - DELHI (260 km)
Ride along the 4 lane highway back to Delhi. Say good bye to the Enfields, mechanic and drivers.
Day 16 : DELHI - AGRA (200 km)
Relax in an air-con bus for the side trip to Agra to visit one of the world's wonders - the Taj Mahal. The Taj was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, between 1632 and 1653. Although the Taj is amazingly graceful from almost any angle, its the close up detail which is really astounding. Semi precious stones are inlaid into the marble in beautiful patterns and with superb craftsmanship.
Day 17 : AGRA - DELHI (200 km)
Sightseeing tour to Fatehpur Sikri before continuing directly to the airport for departure. If you have the time and inclination, our Rajasthan Classic Motor Bike Tour can be done prior to the commencement of the Himalayan Classic tour.
